Michigan’s State Tracking and Reporting: Security and Data Management Enhancement

THE PROBLEM

The State of Michigan, Department of Environment, Great Lakes & Energy (EGLE) needed a way to allow external users (e.g. oil and gas companies) to securely submit data to the state’s online tracking and reporting system, MiSTAR. The current application was outdated and lacked the functionality required to allow EGLE to review and approve imported data prior to it being integrated with historical datasets.

Custom River Maps for Better Storytelling

THE PROBLEM

A small nonprofit focused on water quality protection on northern Michigan’s AuSable River needed to easily collect, store, and analyze information about water quality. They needed to be able to track water quality and analyze potential inputs of nutrients and chemicals to measure contaminants and overall river health. With a distributed team they needed to be able to access and upload to the same GIS data from different locations.
